I'm so excited to be co-hosting this weeks link up with Kate! The topic for this week is the truth about...your job! Grab the button below and join in!!
I have 2 jobs! One is part time and one is very much FULL time! I'll start with the part time job...I'm a personal trainer and have been for 8 years. I did my internship my senior year of collage at this private personal training gym called S.T.E.P.S. and have been there ever since. I graduated with an Exercise Science & Nutrition degree. I have been part time there for a few years which actually works out perfectly since I stay home with my little man during the day. I love personal training. It's so much fun and there is never a dull session! I have 3 awesome clients. A lady and a husband & wife. I train Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
Whenever I tell someone that I'm a personal trainer, the response is almost always "Oh cool. I bet that's a fun job". And it is. It's so much fun! I have been sporty all my life. I started running track in 7th grade and played sports( track, volleyball, or soccer ) through my sophomore year of college. I have been involved in numerous state sporting events, held school records, and I even split a girls head open going for a header in soccer. It of course was an accident. I was fine. She was not.
Sometimes I work out with my clients but not usually. I usually just tell them what to do! haha. There's not one session that's the same. There are soooooo many exercises to do. I like doing circuit training and working cardio in with the weights. This way their heart rates stay up the entire workout( it also burns more calories this way ). If you have any questions about working out, feel free to email me! I get asked all kinds of questions all the time.
My second job is definitely not a 9-5 job. It's more like a 24/7 job! I'm a stay at home mom( I hate that term though...it sounds like I stay at home and watch tv and eat popcorn all day....not the case people! ).
I'll be honest, before I had Rowen and I would here women say that their job was a stay at home mom and it was a lot of work... I would secretly roll my eyes and think "it can't be that much work, you get to stay at home....?"! I never said anything negative to those moms so I don't owe any apologies BUT I would like to take all those negative thoughts about it "not being a job" back! If you aren't a mom then you might be thinking what I use to and that's ok. You will never know the hard( but fun )work of staying home with your child until you do it.
I LOVE it and am so fortunate that I am able to stay at home with Rowen! A true blessing really. Being a stay at home mom, your child is depending on YOU the whole day. You are there to feed them breakfast and lunch, read them stories, play games, play with toys, go to the park, take picnics in the park, put them down for naps....etc....etc....I wouldn't change this JOB for any other job. I want to be the one to raise Rowen till he goes off to school. This job isn't for everyone and that's ok too but I knew that once he entered this world, it was for me and luckily that dream job came true. I guess you can make your stay at home position as easy or minimal as you like but I like to max out everyday with fun activities. I never want Rowen to be bored during the day or just sit in front of the tv for hours( something he wouldn't do anyways! ). I like to take him and do things like go to the zoo, go to the park, or even go see some ducks swimming around in a pond down the street. He loves being outside so I try and take him out to do something as much as I can.
So there are my 2 jobs! 2 jobs I love and wouldn't trade for the world!! 2 jobs that are very rewarding! 2 jobs that teach me a lot about life!
What is your job like?...remember tell the TRUTH :)

Love your jobs. I used to be the same way when I heard the phrase 'stay at home mom'. Now, being a housewife, I know anything that deals with managing a house is a lot of work. Some days I just wish I had a normal job.
ReplyDeletei would love to have a personal trainer! i think i push myself pretty darn hard when i work out, but there's something about having someone expecting something of you and proving something to someone that just pushes you THAT much further. your job sounds awesome. i think it would be a blast to help people in that aspect of their lives!
ReplyDeleteYour little guy is so stinkin cute!! I have 2 jobs as well! Part time SLP and FULL time Momma!!
