Life Lately

Whoaaaaa!! This is my first post of August! The month is flying by and I haven't taken the time to post until now. So I am going to try and squeeze quite a bit of what's been going on lately into this post...

Last weekend we went to the Williamson County Fair. The theme was Big Trucks so we obviously had to take Rowen. We went on opening day( late morning )and it wasn't crowded at all! It was so enjoyable. It was quite a bit smaller than the state fair that's held here in Nashville but seemed to be cleaner and nicer. Rowen went nuts when he laid his eyes on all the construction trucks that they had. He got to climb in them, touch them, and pretend like he was driving some of them! He was in his happy place!

There was also a farm set up that the kids could go through. It was filled with pretend play and they got to pick out a treat at the end...Rowen picked animal crackers and chocolate milk. Before we left, Rowen jumped on a few rides and had a big time! There weren't too many rides for little kids but he did get to ride on 2 different ones. One thing that we didn't do that is pretty much mandatory at any fair...eat fair food!! Haha. Oops. It didn't sound appealing at all. I think maybe if we had gone at night I would have had something but it was kind of early and the smell of hot grease wasn't making me want anthing!

The night before, Brent and I had a little date night while the kids spent the night with my parents. We love trying out new restaurants and that's what we did! There is an old movie theater that has been sitting empty for decades. It opened in 1942 and I don't know when it closed but someone bought it recently, renovated it, and turned it into a sleek, trendy new restaurant that opened 6 or 7 weeks ago. It's called Sinema and the head chef is from Chicago and was on a season of Top Chef. The food was great and so was the atmosphere. There were black and white pictures of famous actors and actresses from the 40's and 50's hung around on some of the walls and they were even playing an old classic movie on a huge screen. Everything really was sleek from the lighting fixtures down to the tables. Definitely my kind of place!

Brent ended up getting the pistachio chicken and I got the pork chops...yumm-o!!

** the bathroom was really pretty so I had to take a selfie! **

Isla turned 8 months old on the 5th of this month. I need to go all the way back to I think 5 months and write her monthly posts. Eek!

Since Isla has started to become a lot more interactive and playful, Rowen has taken a huge interest in her! When he wakes up in the morning, he asks where she is. When he goes to play in his room, he wants her to come too. When he sits and haves a snack, he wants her to have one too! It's really sweet. She is lucky to have such a loving brother. Lately I have caught some super cute pics of the 2 of them spending time together...

Rowen had his first cake pop from Starbucks 2 weeks ago. He loved it of course! He also is officially potty trained( that happened a couple weeks ago ). It actually happened a lot quicker than I thought and wasn't a headache at all! He had to be potty trained for preschool( he starts Sep 7! ) so we were on a bit of a time crunch but he caught on a lot quicker than I was thinking. So no more pull ups for him!

That's all for now! I'll be back tomorrow!
