I'm linking up with Leeann and Sami today for my Weekend Update!
{Friday}
Friday evening Brent and I dropped Rowen off at my parents house and had a date night! Brent has been going to boot camp classes for about a month now( I think he had been to 4 classes prior to this evening )and I have been wanting to try one out with him. So, we started date night @ Barry's Bootcamp in the Gulch!! I didn't know what to expect and the first word that comes to mind when I think back on what we did for an hour is "Insanity". haha. I love working out and this class was awesome! I loved every minute of it...even the parts where I was sweating so hard b/c I was running at a 6.5 at a 6% incline. Yea! I am actually dying to go back. It was high intensity and it kicked my booty but I was able to do every bit of it. Have you ever been to a bootcamp class?? Barry's is definitely not for beginners.
I love my facebook status that I posted after the class( "el bees" is pounds aka
lbs...Rachel lingo)!
lbs...Rachel lingo)!
After showering and getting ready there, we headed to a restaurant that I have been wanting to try out for a few weeks now. It's a new spot in Germantown. It's called Rolf and Daughters and it was so yummy. Loved everything about it....the atmosphere, the lighting, the music, the food...everything!
From the website..."Rolf and Daughters is a neighborhood restaurant located in the historic
100-year-old Werthan Factory building in Germantown, Nashville. Our food draws on Northern Italian and Mediterranean influences with Southern ingredients to create a dynamic and seasonally driven menu." We started with sourdough bread with seaweed butter. It was scrumptious. Brent chose a pasta for his entree. He had the Farro gemelli, hen of the woods( it a type of mushroom ), spinach, & parmesano . I had the vegetarian plate. I'm not vegetarian but I love beets! Here was my entree: Beet, faro verde, apple puree &, greek yogurt. This is probably one of the best meals out that I have had in a while. If you are in Nashville, I recommend going!!
{Saturday}
We picked Rowen up from my parents house around 9:45am and headed to the doctor's office. Let me back track a little...he has had a runny nose and a little cough for about 5 days now. We didn't really think much of it...thought he just had a little cold. Brent comes in contact with hundreds of people each week so we thought he had just brought home some germs that got passed to Rowen. My mom called us Friday night after our workout and thought we might should take him to see the dr soon b/c lots of cases of pneumonia have been reported already and quite a few cases of the flu too. We knew he didn't have the flu and doubted he had pneumonia but we made an appointment for Saturdy morning just to make sure nothing was really wrong. Well, after the on-call pediatrician looked in his ears, he told us Rowen had a double ear infection! And we had no idea. He shows us absolutely no signs and is his happy self whenever he gets a little sick. No tugging on the ears, not unhappy, never cries... The dr was actually surprised that he was so happy and chatty because he said Rowen's left ear infection was pretty bad. Poor thing! This is his second ear infection. Those viruses need to stay away from him!! He is doing much better all ready. His nose has stopped running and he has hardly been coughing. We hung around the house all day Saturday.
We read lots of books! He loves sitting on the floor by himself and flipping through his books. I love watching him! He jibber jabbers and points to things on each page. I wish I knew what he was saying. Soon enough though.
Close up! This was after his bath. I promise he is this happy All The Time!! And if you have seen lots of his pictures, you know I am not lying!
That night Brent and I made chili for dinner. It wasn't just any chili it was Skyline chili!! While visiting some of Brent's relatives 2 weekends ago in Cincinnati , we had some of the best chili I have ever had!! There is a chili chain of restaurants up there( I don't know if they are all over the North or just in Ohio )called Skyline. They sell their chili seasonings in the grocery stores though so that you can make your own. Jen was so sweet and gave Brent and I one of her seasoning packets( Thanks Jen!! )b/c we liked it so much! We made it just like they made it...spaghetti and all.
Oh! It was so delicious! There are so many different ways to make chili. I had never had mine with spaghetti in it. Growing up, we would sometime put ours over elbow macaroni or just add sour cream and cheese. I like it any way but definitely with the Skyline season packets from now on. Looks like I will be ordering those soon!
{Sunday}
Brent woke up feeling sick and had no voice! He was slowly losing his voice on Saturday but it was completely gone Sunday morning. After church we came back home and he as well as Rowen took a nap. My mom brought over Pei Wei and the sleepyheads slept through lunch.
{He's cute even when he is asleep!}
So my mom and I enjoyed wonton soup, lettuce wraps, and the dan dan noodles. When Rowen woke up around 1:15pm, he ate lunch and then my mom offered to take him over to their house to play for a bit so that Brent and I could have some time to ourselves. So nice! It's really nice to live close to family! Brent did a little work and what did I do? Napped! I love Sunday afternoon naps. I slept great and felt nice when I woke up around 6pm!! Oops! We picked up Row and ran a few errands and by the time we got home, it was his dinner time. This dinner was hilarious! Rowen is such a ham and loves making silly faces. I love when I catch those said faces on camera and I captured some cute ones this evening. You know his favorite part of dinner tonight?? The apples...
Silly thing!
Precious. I will cherish these apple pictures for always. It was a great moment before his bedtime. Love that baby of mine!!

ReplyDeleteEar infections are the worst.
So jealous y'all live in Nashville! I think I would love it there. We are on the NC/SC line. It's cool that y'all did a workout as part of y'all's date night. I would never survive bootcamp, but would be fun to work out with the hubs. I need to find something that's fun and motivates me because sadly, I currently HATE to work out. :(
ReplyDeleteHope your son feels better soon! Found you from the blog hop ... have a great week!
